Engineer with 50 years of career talks to freshmen at UEL
Manoel Luiz Alves Nunes, an experienced civil engineer, shares his professional journey with new engineering students at the University of Londrina.
Manoel Luiz Alves Nunes, who has spent 50 years in civil engineering, recently engaged with incoming students at the State University of Londrina (UEL). As the president of Vectra, he has witnessed the remarkable growth of Londrina, a youthful city that has only been around for 90 years. His experiences span various stages of the city's development, including significant contributions to public works and various commercial projects that have reshaped its skyline.
During the lecture titled 'From Student to Entrepreneur: A 50-Year Journey', Nunes addressed a group of 45 civil engineering freshmen as part of the 'Initial Week of New Students' event organized by the Academic Center Saburo Morimoto (CASM). This event took place in the Center for Technology and Urbanism at UEL, encouraging new students to engage with the practical aspects of their future careers in engineering while learning from a seasoned professional who has played an integral role in the city's infrastructure.
Nunes' discussion emphasized the importance of hands-on experience in the engineering field and inspired students by detailing his own pathways, challenges, and accomplishments over five decades. This interaction not only aimed to enlighten the students about the realities of working in civil engineering but also sought to motivate them to embrace their studies and careers with vigor and ambition, reflecting on how they can contribute to the future development of their city and beyond.
