The assets of Waldemar Żurek examined. Reporter on the 'biggest shock', PiS MP on 'madness'

A report reveals that Minister Waldemar Żurek has substantial real estate holdings across Poland, with concerns raised about the secrecy of his financial disclosures.

A recent investigative report has disclosed that Waldemar Żurek, the Polish Minister of Justice, possesses a vast array of real estate holdings throughout the country. The report, which has generated significant attention, points out that Żurek's assets include 21 plots of land, split equally into agricultural fields, forests, and building lots. Notably, five of these plots already have constructions ranging from year-round houses to summer cottages. This extensive portfolio is spread across various regions, including from the Baltic Sea, through Mazovia and the vicinity of Warsaw, to Lesser Poland and the Carpathians.

The implications of this report are significant given that Żurek's financial declaration has been made secret, raising questions about transparency and accountability among public officials. During an interview, the author of the report expressed astonishment at the scattered nature of Żurek's properties, which highlights the breadth of his wealth. The estimated value of these holdings is around eight million Polish zloty, with individual plots valued impressively high, such as one in the Podkarpacie region at 900,000 zloty and another in Małopolska at 1.6 million zloty.

This revelation has sparked debate within Polish politics, particularly among members of the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS). Concerns about the concentration of wealth and potential conflicts of interest are central to discussions following the report, especially in light of the ongoing scrutiny on governmental transparency. The idea that such significant assets could be hidden from public view underscores the necessity for stricter regulations regarding asset declarations for politicians and public officials in Poland.
