NCAA grants Enugu Air AOC in record time

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has granted Enugu Air an Air Operator Certificate in a significantly reduced timeframe, enhancing the state's aviation ambitions.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has officially issued an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Enugu Air, the newly established state-owned airline. This significant achievement supports Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to transform Enugu State into a burgeoning regional aviation and logistics hub. The issuance of the AOC was completed in a record time of just five months and three weeks, which is notably shorter than the typical timeframe of 15 to 24 months that the aviation industry generally experiences.

During the presentation of the certificate at the NCAA headquarters in Abuja, NCAA Director-General Chris Najomo highlighted the historic nature of this expedited certification process. He emphasized that Enugu Air has set itself apart by commencing operations with a full fleet of six aircraft, a rare feat among new entrants within the Nigerian domestic aviation market. The swift certification process reflects the airline's compliance with rigorous evaluation standards across multiple regulatory departments, solidifying its readiness for safe operations.

This rapid approval not only illustrates the capacity of Enugu Air to meet the stringent requirements of the aviation sector but also underlines the state's commitment to developing its aviation infrastructure. The governor's office is optimistic that this milestone will attract more investments, enhance regional connectivity, and provide a robust economic boost to Enugu State, positioning it as a key player in the aviation logistics landscape of Nigeria.
