The Commercial Board of Piauí (Jucepi) has announced that micro and small business owners must prepare for the submission of the Declaration of Socioeconomic and Fiscal Information (Defis) 2026. This declaration is critical and must be submitted by March 31, 2026, for small enterprises that opted for the Simples Nacional tax regime, which simplifies tax compliance for smaller firms based on their operations in 2025.

The Defis replaces previous annual declarations like DASN and DASN-Simei and applies to all micro and small businesses under Simples Nacional, excluding individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs), who have a distinct reporting requirement. The information collected in this declaration is vital as it informs the Federal Revenue and other federal entities of the company's financial, economic, and social position. Key elements that must be reported include income generated, profit distribution, employee numbers, payments made to partners, and inventory levels.
