The new art group Art!šokk opened its first exhibition in Tallinn
The newly formed art group Art!šokk launched its inaugural exhibition titled 'Tärkamisaeg' at the Art and Tonic gallery in Tallinn.
Art!šokk, a new art group composed of seven young painters, has opened its first collective exhibition called 'Tärkamisaeg' at the Art and Tonic gallery in Tallinn. This group, which emerged about a year ago, differs from previous experimental initiatives in the Estonian art scene, as their connection stems not from a similar style but from their shared beginnings in the art world. All members of Art!šokk have participated in the biannual young art auction, fostering a collective identity among them. Artist Henrik Hürden expressed that being part of a group significantly eases the artistic process; it allows for sharing ideas and addressing challenges collectively, which he believes is crucial for advancement. Krete Erlenhein, another member, echoed this sentiment, stating that individual artists often feel isolated in their creative pursuits. The support from peers helps to overcome obstacles and fosters a productive atmosphere. This exhibition not only showcases their individual works but also represents a milestone in their collaborative journey. Art!šokk is positioned to bring fresh perspectives to the Estonian art landscape, and their commitment to communal artistic expression will likely resonate with both local audiences and the wider art community as they continue to develop their practice.
