PagBank will name the Faria Lima Metro station in São Paulo
The Faria Lima Metro station in São Paulo has been renamed Faria Lima PagBank following a naming rights agreement with the digital bank PagBank.
The Faria Lima station on São Paulo's Yellow Line 4 is now officially named Faria Lima PagBank, thanks to a naming rights deal struck with the digital bank PagBank, part of the UOL group. This naming will take effect starting this Tuesday, marking a significant branding initiative by PagBank. This move coincides with the 20th anniversary of PagBank, which has its headquarters located just 200 meters from the station on Brigadeiro Faria Lima Avenue.
Raphael Farias, the director of marketing at PagBank, emphasized the strategic importance of associating the PagBank brand with one of Brazil's main economic corridors and with the metro system, which serves as a crucial symbol of mobility for the city's residents. While the financial specifics of the contract and its duration remain undisclosed, the partnership is indicative of a broader trend where corporate brands seek to enhance visibility in public spaces through naming rights.
In addition to the Faria Lima PagBank station, the Yellow Line also features other sponsored stations, including Paulista by the Casas Pernambucanas. This trend of station sponsorship extends to various other subway lines, with stations such as Adolfo Pinheiro-Unisa and Berrini-Casas Bahia also receiving corporate names. This growing phenomenon reflects a shift in how public transportation spaces are branded and monetized in urban centers, allowing companies to gain exposure while contributing financially to public infrastructure.
