After breaking with Ibaneis, PL talks about establishing CPI of Master in the DF Chamber
The PL party has proposed a parliamentary inquiry to investigate operations between Banco Master and Banco de Brasília, following its split from the government of Ibaneis Rocha.
The PL party, after its departure from the government of Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), has filed a request for the establishment of a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (Câmara Legislativa do DF). This inquiry is intended to investigate the associations and transactions between Banco Master and the Banco de Brasília (BRB). This development highlights the increasing tensions within the local political landscape as the PL seeks to assert itself post-separation from the ruling coalition.
There is a parallel request for an inquiry by opposition parties, specifically a coalition led by PSOL-PT, which has been pending since November 2025. At that time, the PL was still part of the government and did not endorse the petition, which indicates the shifts in political alliances and motivations. Currently, the PSOL request has garnered seven signatures while the PL's proposal has four, failing to meet the minimum threshold of eight signatures required for further consideration. This impasse reflects the difficulties both parties face in garnering sufficient support for their proposals.
For the CPI to be prioritized on the agenda, it would require the endorsement of at least 13 deputies, significantly higher than the current support. As the situation develops, the potential political fallout could reshape local governance dynamics in the Federal District, as both parties navigate their positions in an increasingly contentious environment.
