A woman’s report of domestic violence led to the discovery of an arsenal, including 50 weapons and over 8,800 rounds of ammunition, in Cáceres, Brazil.

The Civil Police uncovered a significant cache of weapons, including 50 firearms and over 8,800 rounds of ammunition, in Cáceres, Mato Grosso, after a woman reported being threatened by her brother. This incident stemmed from disputes over the division of assets from a family estate and occurred on Friday, October 6, when a police team executed a search warrant at a rural property located 220 kilometers from Cuiabá. During the search, officers found various types of firearms, including rifles, pistols, and shotguns, stored in the suspect's bedroom.

Due to the dangerous situation, the woman requested urgent protective measures, prompting the court to order the immediate removal of the weapons from the suspect's possession. This case has been classified as domestic and family violence and is currently under investigation by the Specialized Women's Defense Police Station (DEDM) in Cuiabá. The investigation is being supported by the Coordinating Body of Operations and Special Resources (CORE), highlighting the seriousness of the incident and the need for protection of individuals facing threats in domestic settings.

The discovery of such a large quantity of weapons in a domestic context raises alarms about the potential dangers posed by firearm possession in disputes over personal and family matters. It underlines the critical importance of prompt law enforcement responses to domestic violence reports, particularly when firearms are involved. The case also reinforces ongoing discussions about gun control and domestic violence legislation in Brazil, as authorities continue to seek ways to prevent similar incidents in the future.
