Independent Instructors, New Scoring, and Use of Private Cars: Changes for Obtaining a Driver's License Take Effect in RS
New regulations regarding the issuance of Brazil's National Driver's License (CNH) take effect in Rio Grande do Sul, allowing independent driving instructors and changes in practical test scoring.
Starting this Tuesday, significant changes regarding the issuance of the National Driver's License (CNH) are implemented across Rio Grande do Sul. A pivotal update includes the allowance for independent driving instructors to operate outside the traditional Driver Training Centers (CFCs), which enhances accessibility for prospective drivers. Additionally, adjustments to the scoring system in practical driving tests, alongside the permission for candidates to use their own vehicles, aim to streamline the licensing process and make it more user-friendly.
The DetranRS has opened registration for independent driving instructors on February 23, which already sees over a thousand professionals signed up and an additional two thousand working within CFCs. Isabel Frisk, the General Director of DetranRS, highlighted the growing interest in this new provision, indicating a move towards more flexible and diverse training options for new drivers. The details and qualifications of each instructor will be publicly available on the DetranRS website, ensuring transparency and accountability in the instructor hiring process.
The new pre-requisites for becoming an independent instructor, which include being over 21, holding a valid driver's license for more than two years, and completing specific training courses, reflect an effort to maintain high standards within the industry. These reforms not only aim to modernize the process of obtaining a CNH but also to address the needs of today's learner drivers by making the learning environment more adaptable and accessible to various individual circumstances.
