Police investigates mistreatment of horse seen in video falling on stairs of gym in interior SP
The Civil Police of Igarapava, SP, is investigating alleged mistreatment of a horse that fell in a gym during a charity event after a video circulated on social media.
The Civil Police in Igarapava, São Paulo, have initiated an investigation involving a horse that was captured in a video falling down the stairs of a sports gym during a charity event on Sunday, where a horseback riding procession was taking place. The disturbing footage showed the horse amidst a crowd, with some people attempting to help it while others recorded the incident on their phones. Although the Military Police arrived at the scene, the individuals involved had already left.
Following the incident, the Civil Police started gathering information and officially opened an inquiry. According to Delegate Ana Claudia, the owner of the horse has been identified and both he and witnesses of the incident have been summoned to provide testimonies. However, as of the latest update, no one had come forward to report, leaving the investigation's outcome uncertain at this stage.
The horse's owner claimed that the animal slipped on the stairs due to a new horseshoe, but insisted that the horse is accustomed to ascending stairs and is not harmed. This incident raises concerns regarding animal welfare during public events, particularly how animals are treated by their owners and the responsibilities they hold to ensure their safety in crowded environments.
