A huge flame erupts from the ground, a gas pipeline is on fire in Prague 7
A gas pipeline fire in Prague 7 has led to the evacuation of nearby buildings and significant traffic disruptions, although there have been no injuries reported thus far.
A fire broke out in a gas pipeline on Dobrovského Street in Prague 7, causing flames to shoot into the air and igniting the facades of two nearby buildings. Firefighters responded quickly, declaring the third level of alarm out of four, which necessitated the evacuation of residents from adjacent structures. Traffic was halted on Dobrovského Street, with further restrictions imposed on surrounding areas, including tram services, to ensure public safety.
Firefighters received the call about the blaze around 14:00, initially responding with second-level alarm units. By 15:00, the alarm level was raised to three as they coordinated with the gas emergency service to shut off the gas flow to mitigate risks. Miroslav Řezáč, a spokesperson for the firefighters, confirmed their efforts in containing the situation while maintaining communication with emergency services on the ground to monitor and assess any potential injuries.
Emergency responders, which included both firefighters and police, were bolstered by ambulances arriving at the scene. So far, medical teams announced that no injuries had been reported. However, significant traffic disruptions were noted on Kamenická, Letohradská, and Ovenecká Streets, with Dobrovského Street completely closed to facilitate the emergency response and ensure the safety of both residents and passersby in the area.
