A fire broke out in a gas pipeline on Dobrovského Street in Prague 7, igniting the facades of two nearby buildings. In response to the escalating situation, firefighters declared a second alarm level, which is the second of four levels of alert for emergencies. Evacuations of people living in surrounding buildings were promptly carried out to ensure their safety as the fire posed significant risks to the area.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 2:00 PM after the fire was reported. Miroslav Řezáč, the fire department spokesperson, mentioned that additional units were arriving under the second alarm protocol to tackle the fire effectively. He underscored the seriousness of the incident, as the flames had already spread to nearby structures, emphasizing the unit's rapid response to the developing situation.
Traffic in the vicinity has been severely disrupted, with major streets such as Kamenická, Letohradská, and Ovenecká experiencing restrictions. Dobrovského Street has been completely closed off to facilitate emergency operations. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and manage the incident response to mitigate further danger and protect the community from the ongoing fire hazard.
