In Taubaté, São Paulo, a man was caught in the act early Tuesday morning while attempting to steal food from a municipal school cafeteria. The Municipal Early Childhood Education School José Alfredo Lopes Vieira was targeted when the suspect was found hiding behind the kitchen door after local authorities were alerted about a potential theft.

Authorities reported that the man had already taken food from the school's refrigerator, including four kilograms of pork and two kilograms of beef, with a total estimated value of R$ 190. During questioning, he claimed to be a drug addict and stated that he intended to trade the stolen meat for drugs, highlighting the links between substance abuse and crime in the community.
