More than 20 people are arrested in scheme of 'Finan' cars and stolen and cloned motorcycles in Uberlândia and region
A police operation in Brazil has resulted in the arrests of at least 21 individuals involved in a criminal organization stealing and cloning vehicles.
In a major law enforcement operation known as 'Titan', the Special Task Force for Combating Organized Crime (Gaeco) arrested at least 21 people in the regions of Uberlândia and Monte Carmelo. This operation targeted a criminal organization that specializes in stealing, cloning, and reselling vehicles. A total of 45 judicial orders were executed, including 23 preventive arrests and 22 search and seizure warrants, indicating a large-scale crackdown on organized vehicle theft.
The operation was carried out with the cooperation of the Police Military and involved a coordinated effort by the Gaeco regional teams. In Uberlândia, five key suspects were identified, four of whom were apprehended at the outset of the operation. The fifth suspect was captured later in the day, indicating the thoroughness of the search efforts. Additionally, a witness associated with the task force was also arrested due to an outstanding arrest warrant against them.
According to the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais, the stolen vehicles were being marketed under the 'Finan' scheme, which suggests a method of financing that may be involved in the resale of these cloned cars. This development raises concern about the extent of organized crime in the area and the potential implications for public safety and law enforcement in combating vehicle theft.
