Police set up tactical team in Ondo community to curb kidnapping
The Ondo State Police Command has established a tactical team in Ilu-Abo to combat rising kidnapping and violent crime in the area.
In response to increasing security threats, the Ondo State Police Command has formed a Tactical Team Base in Ilu-Abo, reflecting their commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes. This decision comes after significant public concern over the safety along the Ilu-Abo, Ayede, and Ogbese axis, which has seen a rise in criminal activities. The establishment of the team aims to provide a more direct and organized police presence to enhance security in these areas.
The initiative was publicly confirmed through a statement from Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abayomi Jimoh, highlighting the urgency of addressing the complaints raised by the local community. During a visit to the area on March 10, Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal reassured residents about the police's commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He acknowledged the grievances expressed by the community members during a protest and emphasized that significant steps are being taken to mitigate the security challenges they face.
Lawal also called on the community to remain calm and assured them that the police and other security agencies are working diligently to restore peace. The tactical team's deployment, comprising specially trained operatives, represents a strategic move to bolster local law enforcement capabilities and respond effectively to incidents of crime, thereby aiming to restore normalcy and improve public safety in the affected regions.
