The temperature reaches 15 degrees for the first time this year; there will be less sun on Wednesday

Temperatures in Latvia have reached 15 degrees for the first time this year, but cloud cover is increasing and sunny weather is expected to diminish on Wednesday.

In Mērsrags, temperatures soared to 16.1 degrees this afternoon, marking a local record for March. This increase in temperature is significant as it indicates the arrival of spring after a prolonged winter, with similar warm conditions experienced across parts of Latvia.

However, the weather forecast predicts an increase in cloud cover for Wednesday, with sunny conditions expected to persist only in the eastern parts of the country. In western Kurzeme, thick fog may develop from the sea, potentially affecting visibility and travel. Light rain is also anticipated in some areas of Kurzeme in the evening, implying a shift towards more typical spring weather patterns with variable conditions.

In particular, Riga will see more clouds with the sun appearing sporadically. Despite the cloudiness, no precipitation is forecasted for the capital, with temperatures ranging from a nighttime minimum of around 2 degrees to a daytime high of about 12 degrees. This fluctuating weather suggests that while spring is making its presence felt, it may still bring unpredictable changes.
