The college Provost, Atangs Ishaku, confirmed the incident in an interview, noting that the cause of the fire remains unknown and they are currently assessing the damage. The fire was first reported around midnight, prompting the Provost to contact the Federal Fire Service for assistance.
However, the response from the Federal Fire Service was delayed as they experienced issues with their fire truck. Ishaku had to reach out to another fire team, but by the time they arrived, the fire had already spread significantly, rendering the laboratory section completely destroyed. This has caused great distress among the students, many of whom expressed feelings of frustration regarding the situation. The inability to access vital medical training facilities raises concerns about the academic disruptions this incident may cause.
