After Arashi and Dream Comes True performances, paid overnight stay on trains allowed at Hakata Station as a measure against hotel shortages
As a response to hotel shortages during overlapping popular concerts, JR Kyushu allows fans to stay overnight on specific train cars at Hakata Station for a fee.
Due to the overlap of several popular artist performances in Fukuoka City on April 25, JR Kyushu has announced a unique 'stay event' that allows fans to spend the night in train cars parked at Hakata Station after the concerts. This initiative is in response to the expected influx of visitors coming to see the final tour by Arashi and a two-day concert by Dream Comes True, addressing the hotel shortages that have caused accommodations to be booked out and prices to soar.
The event will utilize a six-car train set (787 series) and will be open for overnight stays from 11:30 PM on April 25 until 6:30 AM on April 26. The participation fee for a regular seat is set at 7,800 yen, with some seats designated for women and the option for box seats. Attendees will receive light snacks during check-in, enhancing the convenience of this arrangement for eager concert-goers looking for a place to rest after enjoying the shows.
This initiative showcases a creative solution to a common issue faced during major events, highlighting the ability of transport services to adapt to the needs of large crowds and boost customer satisfaction. It also reflects the enduring popularity of Japanese artists and the associated economic impact on local infrastructure and hospitality sectors during significant concert events.
