Interview Poll: New Democracy Rises to 34.1% in Election Projections - Widespread Concern Over War Impacts
A recent survey indicates a rise in support for the New Democracy party in Greece, with growing concerns regarding the consequences of war.
A recent poll conducted by Interview for the newspaper Political reveals a significant increase in support for the ruling New Democracy party in Greece, now projected to receive 34.1% of the vote. The survey shows a solid voter consolidation behind New Democracy, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis leading in voter confidence ratings with 32.6%. In comparison, the opposition party PASOK holds steady at around 12.8%.
The polling indicates that New Democracy has a 15.7-point lead over PASOK when respondents were asked who they would vote for if elections were held next Sunday. New Democracy has increased its share by nearly two percentage points since the previous poll, while other parties like the KKE are also gaining traction, securing about 6.5% of voter support. Meanwhile, newer political entities are struggling to establish their presence in the current political landscape.
The survey also highlights a growing concern among voters about the effects of ongoing conflicts, which may influence future electoral outcomes. As dissatisfaction with certain parties grows and new political formations attempt to enter the fray, the dynamics of Greek politics continue to shift, suggesting that the next election could be quite competitive despite New Democracy's current lead.
