R. Žemaitaitis on the investigation concerning A. Gedvilas's favor towards 'Jozita': they want to bite the party at any cost

R. Žemaitaitis expresses concerns over a political investigation, arguing that certain factions are targeting his party unfairly due to past business ties.

In a recent statement, R. Žemaitaitis addressed the ongoing investigation regarding A. Gedvilas and his alleged favoritism towards the company 'Jozita'. He suggested that there are groups ('swarm') intent on attacking his party at any cost, using past business connections as justification. Žemaitaitis questioned the motives behind delving into a decade-old history that seems to serve no current purpose other than to undermine the political standing of his party.

During the press conference held at the Seimas (the Lithuanian Parliament), Žemaitaitis was asked to consider whether it is normal for a lawmaker with financial ties to a business to promote favorable legislation for that company. Instead of answering directly, he shifted focus to concerns surrounding public procurement practices at LRT (Lithuanian National Radio and Television), implying that the press's inquiries might have ulterior motives. His response indicated a defensive stance, suggesting that the scrutiny faced by Gedvilas may be more about political rivalry than genuine ethical concerns.

Lastly, he defended Gedvilas's actions, asserting that all financial relationships were properly declared to the relevant authority, the Commission of Ethics. He pointedly asked whether having business links with a certain company is ultimately a problem, challenging the media to consider whether their inquiries are truly sincere or if they are simply part of a political attack against him and his associates.
