RESEARCH: It became clear in which Baltic city coffee is the most expensive

A study of coffee prices in the capitals of the Baltic states reveals that Tallinn has the highest coffee prices, while Vilnius offers the lowest.

A recent study conducted in cafes across the capitals of the Baltic states has highlighted significant price differences in coffee. The research involved nearly 300 cafes and assessed the prices of both black coffee and milk-based coffee drinks, revealing that Tallinn has the highest average price for an espresso at €2.87, while Vilnius boasts the lowest average price of €2.09. Riga falls in between, with an average espresso price of €2.33.

The study also examined the costs of milk-based coffee drinks, such as cappuccinos and lattes. In Tallinn, cappuccinos cost an average of €3.77, and lattes are priced at €3.93. In comparison, the prices in Riga for these drinks are €3.21 for cappuccinos and €3.44 for lattes, while Vilnius's prices are lower, at €3.01 for cappuccinos and €3.16 for lattes. This trend underscores how coffee prices vary significantly across the region, posing interesting insights for consumers and cafe owners alike.

Notably, while Tallinn has the highest prices, it also exhibits the smallest price discrepancy between different types of coffee drinks, with lattes costing 37.1% more than espressos. In contrast, Riga shows a 47.4% difference, and Vilnius presents the largest difference at 51.3%. These findings could influence consumer choices and market strategies within the coffee culture of the Baltic capitals, as coffee drinkers may seek better value in the lower-priced cities.
