From 'Brown Cheese' to 'Song Festival'. A Colorful Performance Program for 'Theater.zip' Season 14
The Latvian TV show 'Theater.zip' begins its 14th season with a children's performance based on a Norwegian story about brown cheese, featuring interactive segments on cheese-making.
The 14th season of 'Theater.zip' on Latvian TV channel LTV1 traditionally kicks off with a children’s show. On March 14 at 10:15 AM, viewers will be treated to a performance by the theater troupe 'Kvadrifrons' titled 'Brown Cheese', which is inspired by the work of Norwegian author Ørjan Løv. This witty tale highlights Norway's national pride, brown cheese, and evolves into an exciting detective story involving a criminal who targets this unique delicacy. The show aims to entertain while introducing viewers to a significant aspect of Norwegian culture through an engaging narrative.
In addition to the performance, the segment 'Theater.zip for Children' will delve into the secrets of cheese-making. Young participants in the show—including Astrīda Šēnberga, Regnārs Šēnbergs, Matilde Būmeistere, and Edvarts Būmeisters—will actively engage in the process of making cheese by heating milk to create curds and whey, crafting a traditional Latvian cheese known as knapsieris or wind cheese, and comparing it to the Norwegian 'brunnost'. The creative and educational approach aims to make the experience fun and memorable for the young audience.
Following the children's performance, 'Theater.zip' will feature seven additional theatrical evening shows every Saturday, which will air at 9:10 PM on LTV1. During these episodes, host Ojārs Rubenis will engage in discussions with the creators of the performances and various guests, providing insights into the productions and their inspirations. This ongoing series not only entertains but also promotes cultural exchange through theater, underscoring the importance of both Latvian and Norwegian traditions.
