PRF seizes truck with over 250 fines and R$ 80,000 in debts on BR-470, in Bento Gonçalves
The Federal Highway Police seized a truck in Bento Gonçalves due to numerous outstanding fines and debts totaling over R$ 80,000.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) has apprehended a truck that had accumulated a significant number of traffic violations and overdue payments, amounting to over R$ 80,000. This incident took place on Monday, October 9, on the BR-470 highway in Bento Gonçalves, located in the Serra Gaúcha region of Brazil. Upon inspection, PRF agents discovered that the truck had 257 expired fines, 21 violations still within the payment deadline, and 27 infractions that are in the process of defense.
In addition to these fines, the vehicle's licensing was overdue, and it had outstanding IPVA (Vehicle Property Tax) payments for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026. Among the identified infractions are violations for lack of driver identification (applicable to legal entities), toll evasion, and exceeding speed limits captured by radar. There were also issues related to the truck's maintenance condition, which could endanger road safety.
This case raises important concerns regarding vehicle compliance and safety on Brazilian highways. The PRF's action highlights the ongoing enforcement of traffic laws, aiming to ensure that vehicles on the road meet regulatory standards, thereby protecting both drivers and the public from potential hazards stemming from poorly maintained vehicles.
