Electricity prices rose significantly last week in Lithuania and Latvia due to decreased wind energy production and reduced electricity imports from Sweden, while Estonia saw a decrease in prices due to increased imports from Finland.
Last week, electricity prices surged in Lithuania and Latvia, with both experiencing an increase of around 20% compared to the previous week, reaching 120 euros per MWh. The rise in Latvia paralleled the situation in Lithuania, primarily attributed to reduced wind generation output and lesser imports from Sweden's fourth trading zone. In contrast, Estonia saw a drop in prices to 96 euros per MWh, aided by increased electricity imports from Finland, where prices have significantly decreased.
