A young man slipped down a steep slope by the Vilnelė River in Vilnius: firefighters were needed for help

A young man in Vilnius slipped down a steep slope and required firefighters' assistance to reach safety.

On Monday at around 2:18 PM, a report was received that a young man had slipped down a steep slope near the Vilnelė River on Užupio street in Vilnius and was unable to climb back up. The authorities arrived on the scene to find that the young man had fallen approximately 20 meters down the slope, which is located near the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and he had sustained a hand injury in the process of trying to escape the precarious situation.

Firefighters quickly responded to the incident and utilized a rescue rope to safely descend to the young man. They fitted him with special shoe attachments to aid in his ascent back to safety, guiding him along the riverbank towards an awaiting ambulance. The young man was subsequently transferred to the medical team for further examination and treatment of his injuries.

This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with steep slopes and the importance of quick response from emergency services in urban areas.
