The LPG crisis deepens in Lucknow, hotels and restaurants face closure!

An LPG supply crisis has emerged in Lucknow due to delays in commercial cylinder deliveries, impacting hotels and restaurants.

In Lucknow, the ongoing tension in Gulf countries is beginning to manifest as a significant LPG supply crisis. The delays in the delivery of commercial cylinders over the past two days have left hotel and restaurant operators distressed, leading to a situation where business operations are at risk of halting. As a result, the waiting list for domestic cylinders has also grown, with deliveries now taking between five to seven days, compared to the usual next-day service.

The situation is compounded by a reduction in the quota of domestic cylinders provided to agencies, now cut by 20 to 25%. With around 105 gas agencies in Lucknow and an average daily consumption of 25,000 cylinders, this shortage is creating significant pressures on local businesses. According to local oil company manager Jitendra Ojha, the supply delays stem from the ongoing conflict, which is affecting logistics and timely delivery of cylinders.

Amid rising public demand for LPG, tensions are further exacerbated by rumors regarding the severity of the crisis, which according to Ojha, may not be as dire as it seems. Nevertheless, the increased crowd at agency offices highlights the growing concerns among consumers and operators alike, signaling potential long-term implications for food service businesses in the region if the crisis is not resolved promptly.
