A man in Alytus allegedly threatened another with a firearm and fired two shots, leading to the discovery of illegal weapons and drugs at his home.
On Monday afternoon in Alytus, Lithuania, a conflict escalated when a man threatened another individual with what appeared to be a firearm. The incident transpired on Jazminų Street, where shots were reportedly fired into the air before the suspect fled the scene. This alarming act raised immediate concerns among local authorities regarding public safety.
Following the incident, the police launched an investigation which led them to the suspect’s residence in Alytus. Upon searching the home of the 1998-born individual, officers uncovered an illegally possessed smoothbore shotgun along with seven rounds of 16 caliber ammunition. In addition to the firearms, authorities also seized a quantity of white crystals and plant-derived substances, raising further questions about the man's potential drug involvement.
The suspected shooter is currently detained in the long-term holding facility of the Alytus County Police Headquarters. A preliminary investigation has commenced focusing on public order violations and illegal possession of firearms, underscoring the importance of addressing such threats to community safety.
