According to Vasilis Iliopoulos, the CEO of BluPeak Estate Analytics, municipalities hold thousands of properties, including land and buildings, which are often unknown to them. These unregistered assets cannot be part of potential solutions to the housing crisis, which is critical for the welfare of households struggling with rising living expenses.

Iliopoulos argues that by creating a comprehensive registry of these properties, the government could devise policies to introduce new rental properties into the market, providing more housing options for citizens. He cites the municipality of Amarousion as a notable example of local assets that could be leveraged to alleviate the housing challenge.
