Model 4: Building of Plate-type Housing
The 'plate-type housing building' is part of the Procrear Estación Buenos Aires project, designed by Tomás Tarnofsky, featuring optimized circulation systems and flexible unit designs.
The 'plate-type housing building' is a significant component of the Procrear Estación Buenos Aires housing initiative, created by architect Tomás Tarnofsky. With a total area of 115,000 square meters and 896 housing units planned, the sector M9A specifically includes 9,030 square meters and 94 units. This project stands out for its innovative approach to spatial design, particularly through its circular circulation systems that enhance horizontal movement within the building.
The architectural design emphasizes height variation in living rooms while intermediate level expansions maintain optimal proportions for livability. The building features duplex and semi-duplex arrangements that capitalize on visual openness and double-height balconies, as well as simpler units designed for space unification and flexible compartmentalization. Tarnofsky intentionally avoids linear balcony designs, opting instead for squared extensions that foster communal gatherings and various activities, promoting a sense of community within the residential space.
As urban living demands evolve, such design innovations are crucial in addressing the needs of modern residents while maximizing functionality. By creating adaptable spaces that can cater to different social interactions and lifestyle adaptations, this project not only contributes to the housing market in Buenos Aires but also sets a precedent for future urban architecture in Argentina, reflecting a broader trend towards sustainable and versatile housing solutions in urban landscapes.
