Udesc uses high school grades to fill 163 remaining vacancies; see courses

The University of the State of Santa Catarina (Udesc) is opening registrations for 163 remaining vacancies in nine in-person undergraduate courses, selecting candidates based on their high school grades.

The University of the State of Santa Catarina (Udesc) has announced that it will fill 163 remaining vacancies across nine undergraduate courses. Applications are open now and will conclude on Thursday at 11:59 PM. The selection process is free and exclusively conducted online, relying solely on the candidates' high school academic records. Several centers across different cities, including Caçador, Chapecó, Joinville, Lages, and Pinhalzinho, will host these courses.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed their high school education or an equivalent by the application deadline. Among the 163 available spots, specific quotas have been established: 20% of the vacancies are reserved for those who completed their high school education entirely in public institutions, while 10% are aimed at candidates who identify as black or mixed-race, and 5% for applicants with disabilities. This initiative underlines Udesc’s commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity.

This selection process is specifically for enrollment in the first semester of 2026, highlighting an ongoing effort to streamline higher education access in Brazil. By allowing high school grades to play a crucial role in admissions, the university aims to provide an equitable opportunity for aspiring students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. As applications are collected, Udesc will begin the important task of evaluating the candidates for their upcoming academic year.
