On International Women's Day, women in Croatia celebrated in various ways, with a significant focus on the often overlooked group of women who bravely defended the country during the Homeland War. The Association of Women Veterans of the Homeland War Pula, led by president Slavica Porubić Kukal, demonstrated their courage and creativity by engaging in a donation collection event. This initiative not only highlighted their strength but also allowed them to express their softer, more artistic sides in a meaningful manner on this special day.

The association emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of women veterans, who often sacrifice their homes and families for the sake of national defense. At the event held in the Home of Croatian Veterans in Pula, they showcased their efforts through an exhibition titled 'Warriors and Guardians of Cultural Heritage'. This event served as a platform to spotlight the dual roles these women play as nurturers and fighters, embodying the spirit of the motto 'Woman - Mother - Warrior'.

The event also coincided with the fifth meetings of women veterans, which was organized in response to the upcoming 'Day of Women Veterans in Croatia'. The association is set to hold its gatherings on the first Saturday of June, emphasizing their commitment to honoring female veterans and ensuring their legacy is recognized in the broader context of Croatian history. This celebration not only brings visibility to their contributions but also fosters community support and awareness about the sacrifices made by these women during the war.
