MP conducts institutional visit to the Lilac Room of the Terra Santa Police Station

The Public Ministry of Pará conducted a visit to the Lilac Room at the Terra Santa Police Station to enhance support for victims of violence.

In recognition of International Women's Day on March 8, the Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA) organized an institutional visit to the Lilac Room located at the Terra Santa Police Station in western Pará. This visit aimed to review the operations of this dedicated space and strengthen coordination among agencies responsible for assisting victims of violence. The initiative highlights the commitment to improve services available to those affected by gender-based and domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of institutional collaboration.

During the visit, officials reviewed data on assistance records at the Lilac Room, revealing an alarming increase in reported cases. Specifically, there were 16 cases reported in January, which surged to 36 in February, including incidents of gender violence, domestic abuse, and offenses against children and adolescents. Promoter Guilherme Lima Carvalho noted that these escalating figures underscore the pressing need for more integrated action among public institutions aimed at prevention and strengthening the protective network for victims of violence.

The MP's initiative not only highlights the pressing social issue of violence against women and minors but also serves as a call to action for community support and institutional cooperation. By working together, agencies hope to foster a more effective response to violence and ultimately improve outcomes for victims, reflecting a broader commitment to gender equality and child protection within Brazilian society.
