PRF rescues three-year-old child by helicopter from Caruaru to hospital in Recife

The PRF transported a three-year-old boy from Caruaru to a Recife hospital after he suffered a seizure and respiratory failure following flu symptoms.

The Brazilian Highway Police (PRF) conducted a medical rescue of a three-year-old boy from Caruaru to a hospital in Recife after he experienced a seizure. The child had been hospitalized at a local Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in the Salgado neighborhood, where he exhibited flu-like symptoms and a high fever for three days, leading to complications.

At approximately 12:20 PM, the SAMU dispatch center was alerted and activated a helicopter-based medical team to respond to the emergency. Upon their arrival at the unit, the boy was found to be in critical condition, facing respiratory failure, which necessitated intubation to stabilize his condition before the transfer. After stabilization, he was successfully airlifted and reached the Derby area of central Recife in just 35 minutes.

Following the helicopter transfer, the child was taken by SAMU ambulance to the Hospital da Restauração for further treatment. This quick response showcases the efficiency of Brazil’s medical emergency services, particularly the collaboration between the PRF and SAMU in critical situations, ensuring that patients receive urgent care in a timely manner.
