The criminal case against a Prison Administration official for sexual acts with children is handed to the court
A prison official in Latvia has been charged with sexual acts involving minors, with disturbing allegations surfacing from social media interactions.
The Rīga Northern Prosecutor's Office has handed over a criminal case to the Latgale District Court, in which a member of the Prison Administration (IeVP) is accused of engaging in sexual acts with minors. The allegations came to light through social media interactions where the accused reportedly engaged in sexual behavior with individuals under the age of 14 during 2022 and 2023. The individual's actions included sending sexual messages and pornographic material to these minors, which raises significant concerns about child safety online.
In a more troubling development, it is alleged that the accused built a relationship with one minor over a long period, only to engage in inappropriate conduct when the boy reached the age of 14. The accused purportedly encouraged the boy to participate in the production of pornographic material, showcasing a predatory pattern of behavior that exploited the trust of a vulnerable youth. Law enforcement agencies are currently preparing to prosecute this case, with preliminary investigations launching in October 2025 by the Internal Security Bureau.
The prosecution has urged parents to remain vigilant regarding their children's activities on social media platforms, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding minors from predatory individuals online. This case not only highlights issues within the social contexts of technology and youth but also calls into question the responsibilities of public servants and the necessity for stricter regulations and awareness programs to protect children from such heinous acts.
