There’s a lot to love with Apple’s cheaper iPhone – if you can forgive the compromises

The new iPhone 17e offers a budget-friendly option in Apple's lineup with minor trade-offs in features.

The iPhone 17e has been introduced as Apple's latest entry-level smartphone, strategically priced at £600, making it an affordable alternative to the more expensive iPhone 17 and its variants. Priced at least £200 lower than its counterparts, the iPhone 17e replaces the previous model, the iPhone 16e, and aims to capture the market segment looking for essential smartphone features without the premium cost. Although it comes with certain compromises, such as the absence of a secondary ultra-wide camera and Camera Control button, it still incorporates significant upgrades that enhance user experience.
