All municipalities in MT are on alert for the risk of storms and lightning strikes
The National Institute of Meteorology issued alerts for thunderstorms across all municipalities in Mato Grosso, Brazil, indicating severe weather conditions.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued two danger alerts regarding the risk of storms for all 142 municipalities in Mato Grosso, Brazil. These alerts, categorized as yellow and orange, forecast heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding, tree falls, and power outages on Monday, October 9. The alerts highlight significant instability in weather conditions across the state, with thunderstorms expected to bring wind gusts and lightning strikes.
The yellow alert, indicating potential danger, is active until 10 a.m. on the same day. According to Inmet, rainfall could range from 20 to 30 millimeters per hour, possibly reaching up to 50 millimeters throughout the day, with winds expected to gust between 40 and 60 km/h. This level of alert suggests a low risk of widespread power outages and minor tree damage but remains a cause for concern due to the unpredictable nature of such storms.
Residents are advised to stay informed about the weather situation and take precautions to mitigate risks associated with severe weather. Given the frequency of adverse weather events in this region, these alerts are critical for public safety, underscoring the importance of awareness and preparedness in facing intense weather conditions.
