A Year of Remembrance for Guitarist Hladík Will Bring a Tour and a Book, Culminating in the Documentary "My Play"
A documentary about the late Czech guitarist Radim Hladík will premiere in December, alongside a tour and other tributes marking his 80th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his death.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of guitarist and composer Radim Hladík's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death. To pay tribute, family, friends, and collaborators will remember him through various events, culminating in the premiere of a feature documentary titled 'Radim Hladík: Má hra' in December. This project is spearheaded by Radim Hladík Jr. and Boris Machytka, illustrating the significant impact Hladík had on the music scene in Czechia.
The idea for the documentary originated during Hladík's life, although he approached it with some reluctance. After his passing, the creators revived the concept, with the involvement of his wife, Zlata Hladíková, who played a crucial role in the project's development. Tragically, her unexpected death on January 2, 2024, has led to a transformation in the documentary's original concept, prompting the creators to seek a new narrative perspective.
Currently, the project is in its final production stages, having completed initial recordings with selected artists and finishing extensive research and discussions regarding archival and family materials. This archival work has uncovered a wealth of visual, auditory, and film resources that shed light on Hladík's legacy, which will significantly enrich the storytelling in the documentary and the associated commemorative activities planned throughout the year.
