A new documentary film about the late Czech musician David Stypka will premiere on April 16, 2026, following regional pre-screenings.
The documentary titled 'Don't be afraid, breathe, magic', directed by Dan Svátek, is set to premiere on April 16, 2026. It offers an intimate and candid portrayal of the musician David Stypka, who tragically passed away five years ago due to a serious illness. The film aims to capture the essence of Stypka's artistry and personality, allowing viewers to connect with the man behind the music.
Prior to the official premiere, the film will host regional pre-screenings as part of a promotional tour. Alongside the documentary, attendees will enjoy a mini-concert featuring the band Bandjeez and special guests including Kateřina Marie Tichá and Mirai Navrátil. Notably, the first public pre-screening will take place on March 25 in Frýdek-Místek, Stypka's hometown, which will feature an extensive accompanying program, paying homage to the artist's legacy.
In addition to intimate family reflections, the documentary features testimonials from various artists, including members of the band Bandjeez, Ewa Farna, Tichá, Mirai, and Jindra Polák from the band Jelen. The film also includes insights from key figures in the music industry such as producer Martin Ledvina and publisher Martin Červinka, as well as guest Terezie Kovalová, providing a comprehensive view of Stypka's impact on Czech music and culture.
