From March 9 to 15, 2023, police in Lithuania will implement a preventive measure called 'Operation Seatbelt,' initiated by the European Roads Policing Network (ROADPOL). This operation aims to strengthen the culture of safety among road users and remind everyone of the critical importance of seatbelt usage. It underscores that even short trips, such as those to school or daycare, must be safe, placing the responsibility for children's safety squarely on adults.

During this operation, law enforcement officers will pay special attention to checking the usage of seatbelts among drivers and passengers. Additionally, efforts will be made to focus on areas around educational institutions like schools and kindergartens, especially during morning hours when children are being dropped off. Police will ensure that young passengers are transported safely and securely, confirming that they are properly buckled in when in vehicles.
