According to the latest update from the Central Directory of Enterprises (Dirce) released by the INE, the Spanish business sector saw a 1.7% increase at the beginning of 2025, surpassing 3.3 million active companies. The majority of these organizations are involved in trade, accounting for 18.9% of the total, followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities at 12.6%, construction at 11.8%, and industry at 5.2%. The report emphasizes that the Spanish business fabric is predominantly comprised of microenterprises, with over 1.8 million companies (54.4% of the total) having no employees as of early 2025.
