Uyi Akpata, the president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, expressed that hosting the Women's T20i Invitational Tournament is instrumental in solidifying Nigeria’s position as a prominent center for women’s cricket in Africa. Scheduled to take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval in Lagos from March 18 to 29, this fifth edition of the tournament marks its return after a year of hiatus and features five nations including Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and the U-19 squad from South Africa, with the latter making its debut.

The tournament, which began as a bilateral series between Nigeria and Rwanda, has significantly evolved, gaining both recognition and competitive quality on the global stage.
