Malawi: Malawi SMEs Women Challenged to Support and Empower Each Other
Women in Malawi's SMEs are encouraged to support and empower each other for business growth and national development.
During the International Women's Day Expo held at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre, Efrida Chigwe, Managing Director of Mirage PR, urged women in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malawi to actively support and empower one another. She emphasized the importance of sharing business skills and knowledge among women entrepreneurs to foster growth and contribute to the broader national development goals. The event served as a platform for celebrating women's achievements in various sectors while tackling gender equality issues.
The Expo, themed 'To Give and Gain,' included a Women of Impactful Breakfast and a Business Expo, aiming to equip emerging entrepreneurs with essential business knowledge and skills. It brought together leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to take substantive steps toward gender equality and women's empowerment in business. The initiative emphasizes collective action among women in the economic sector, encouraging collaboration to enhance their capabilities and market presence.
Chigwe highlighted that while many women are achieving significant progress in their respective sectors, the true potential for growth lies in their ability to work together. The SME Clinic for Rising Entrepreneurs was a notable feature, focusing on providing the necessary tools and resources for women to thrive in the competitive business landscape. This collaborative approach aims to create a supportive network for women entrepreneurs in Malawi, driving both individual and collective success.
