An Extra Benefit for Matti and Teppo – Here's How Much It Is Per Month

Matti and Teppo have been granted an extra benefit of monthly artist pension due to their significant contributions as creative artists in Finland.

Matti and Teppo, alongside over 50 other Finnish artists, have been awarded an extra artist pension by the Arts and Culture Agency (previously known as the Arts Promotion Centre). This annual supplementary pension recognizes their outstanding contributions in the realm of performing and creative arts. According to projections for 2026, the total amount of the supplementary artist pension will be €1637.26 per month, with a partial pension set at €818.62, contingent on the recipient being at least 60 years old or permanently unfit for work.

The supplementary pensions will be administered by Keva, and it is anticipated that approximately 1,000 artists in Finland will receive these payments monthly. The recent recipients also include notable figures such as authors Anja Snellman and Eija-Riitta “Eppu” Nuotio. Furthermore, Iltalehti recently reported on the duo's financially struggling music business, MTR Music, which adds a layer of context to the importance of these pensions in supporting artists who may be facing challenges in their professional endeavors.

This announcement underscores Finland's commitment to supporting its cultural heritage and assisting artists in navigating the financial realities of their careers as they age. The initiatives by the Arts and Culture Agency not only aim to provide financial stability but also highlight the value of artistic contributions to society and culture, especially for those artists experiencing difficulties.
