Horrific accident on Haridwar-Dehradun highway, several vehicles collided

A tragic accident occurred on the Haridwar-Dehradun national highway in Uttarakhand, involving multiple vehicle collisions and resulting in injuries and one fatality.

On Sunday night, a significant accident took place on the Haridwar-Dehradun national highway, specifically on the Motichur flyover in Uttarakhand. Multiple vehicles collided, leading to a fierce fire engulfing the vehicles, resulting in various injuries and the unfortunate death of a woman traveling in a tractor-trolley. The local police confirmed that they managed to control the fire following the incident, which created a chaotic environment on the flyover with heavy traffic congestion as a consequence.

The SP City of Haridwar, Abhay Singh, reported that the incident occurred between 9:30 and 9:45 PM when a bus collided with a tractor-trolley that lacked indicator and reflector lights while traveling from Rishikesh to Haridwar. This collision caused the tractor-trolley to overturn, subsequently involving other vehicles, including a WagonR car and an SUV, which crashed into the bus. Preliminary information indicated that the fire was ignited by the CNG cylinder installed in the WagonR.

In light of the situation, emergency services were summoned to manage the aftermath, which included extinguishing the blaze and clearing the traffic jam that ensued on the highway. Such accidents raise concerns over road safety measures and the significance of proper vehicle maintenance, especially the importance of working lights and signals to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
