President Yoon's approval rating has increased to 58.2%, while the Democratic Party sees an uptick in support and the People Power Party experiences a decrease, according to a recent survey.
Recent polling data indicates that President Yoon's approval rating has rebounded to 58.2%, reflecting a 1.1 percentage point increase from the previous week. The survey, conducted by Realmeter with a sample size of 2,005 voters aged 18 and older, reveals that negative evaluations of the president's performance have dropped to 37.1%. The positive-negative gap in opinions widened from 18.9% to 21.1%. Daily trends show that the approval rating had fluctuated over the previous week, marking a high of 60% on the 4th before settling at the current figure.
By region, the greatest increase in approval was recorded in Gwangju and Jeolla, which saw a rise of 6.3 percentage points to 86.1%. Other regions also showed gains, with Seoul at 54.8% and Incheon/Gyeonggi at 59.2%. However, the Daejeon/Sejong/Chungcheong region experienced the largest decline of 6.4 percentage points, now at 55.9%. Realmeter attributes this increase in support to the government's handling of economic crises, including President Yoon's directive of a 100 trillion won stock market stabilization program amidst a backdrop of rising exchange rates and falling stock prices.
In party support, the Democratic Party's approval rose to 48.1%, an increase of 1 percentage point, while the People Power Party fell to 32.4%, declining by 1.4 percentage points. This broadens the gap between the two parties from 13.3 percentage points to 15.7 percentage points, maintaining a consistent discrepancy beyond the margin of error for six consecutive weeks. Realmeter links the Democratsβ increased support to the government's stabilization measures in response to the economic crisis and the successful passage of judicial reform bills.
