The advisor to the President of Lithuania, D. Matulionis, spoke on the LRT program "Savaitė" about the current state of diplomatic relations with China and expressed concerns regarding the lack of positive signs for their restoration. Matulionis emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds all the cards in this situation, indicating that efforts are being made to restore relations, but stressed that it is a two-sided effort requiring goodwill from both parties.

Matulionis further explained that while China maintains its cooperation with the West, which is crucial for its markets, Lithuania should not expand its economic collaboration with Beijing. He believes that enhancing economic dependence on China could have serious implications, yet acknowledges the need for achieving a full restoration of diplomatic relations due to the existing geopolitical situation and national security concerns.

The advisor pointed out that Lithuania's goal remains to re-establish comprehensive diplomatic relations with China despite the challenges.
