Driver seriously injured after crashing into the back of another truck on BR-050 in Uberaba
A driver sustained serious injuries in a rear-end collision between two trucks on BR-050 in Uberaba.
On Saturday night, a truck driver suffered severe injuries following a rear-end collision with another truck on BR-050 at km 116 in Uberaba, Brazil. The incident, reported by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), revealed that both trucks were traveling in the direction from Uberaba to Uberlândia when one truck struck the rear of the other. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The impact of the collision resulted in the driver of the trailing truck becoming trapped in the wreckage. Emergency teams from the Eco 050 concessionary and the Fire Department were called to the scene. They were able to extract the driver, who was critically injured, and administered immediate medical attention before transporting him to a health facility in Uberaba for further treatment of his serious lower limb injuries.
Fortunately, the driver of the front truck was unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. He underwent a breathalyzer test, which yielded no evidence of alcohol consumption, according to the PRF. This incident underlines the risks associated with highway driving and raises concerns about road safety measures on major Brazilian routes such as the BR-050.
