The city administration reported that these demonstrations aimed to support Ukrainian female defenders, cadets, and civilians, many of whom have faced hardships or have been previously detained by Russian forces. The initiative also sought to defend women's rights against any legislative measures deemed discriminatory or regressive.

Prominent figures at the event included representatives from the Kyiv Coalition and the Kyiv Academy of Women’s Leadership, totaling 1,325 participants who voiced their concerns and solidarity. Hanna Starostenko, Deputy Head of Kyiv City Administration, emphasized that Kyiv remains a city where important social dialogues can take place publicly, allowing residents to support one another while upholding dignity and respect amid challenging times. The event not only commemorated women’s contributions but also highlighted the ongoing fight for gender equality.

March 8 also marked the International Day for Women’s Rights, a day where President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude towards Ukrainian women for their courage and professionalism during these tumultuous times.
