Approximately 400 Estonian citizens remain in the conflict area of the Middle East
Estonia has successfully evacuated over 1,000 citizens from the Middle East, but around 400 remain in the region.
The Estonian government has conducted seven special flights to evacuate its citizens from conflict areas in the Middle East, successfully bringing back 1,089 individuals along with some infants. However, the officials reported that nearly 400 Estonian citizens still remain in the region, evidencing the ongoing challenges posed by the conflict and the necessity for continued support.
In a recent announcement, the Estonian Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, highlighted the successful evacuation operation, indicating that the government took proactive measures to assist citizens stranded in a precarious situation rather than relying solely on foreign aid. The final two special flights departed from Dubai, aimed at bringing home Estonian nationals currently traveling in the United Arab Emirates, marking the completion of this critical operation as no further flights are planned at this moment.
Minister Tsahkna noted that scheduled flights are resuming, highlighting a gradual return to normalcy in air travel for Estonians affected by the conflict. The government continues to monitor the situation closely, showing a commitment to ensuring the safety and return of its citizens while also preparing to place Estonians in safer locations if necessary.
