Civil Defense warns of heavy rains and gusts of wind from Sunday to Wednesday in the interior of SP
The Civil Defense of São Paulo has issued a warning for heavy rains and strong winds expected from Sunday to Wednesday in various regions of the state.
The São Paulo State Civil Defense has issued an alert regarding forecasts of intense rainfall beginning on Sunday, October 8. This inclement weather is expected to persist between Monday, October 9, and Wednesday, October 11, characterized by heavy showers, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and isolated occurrences of hail. Meteorological models indicate that a cold front will pass through the region, leading to prolonged rain, with some areas at risk for substantial rainfall accumulations.
To ensure public safety and readiness, the Civil Defense will activate a crisis management office initially in a remote capacity, facilitating coordination among various entities within the State System of Protection and Civil Defense. Continuous monitoring will be implemented to assess the meteorological conditions and any related incidents across the state of São Paulo. If the weather situation deteriorates, the crisis office is prepared to transition to an in-person response.
Residents have been advised to take precautions during this period of atmospheric instability, as conditions may lead to flooding and other weather-related emergencies. The Civil Defense has underscored the importance of staying informed through official channels for updates regarding the storm and safety recommendations. This proactive stance aims to mitigate potential damage and ensure community safety throughout the duration of the severe weather forecasted for the region.
